The road less traveled
Scene: Rain takes the road less traveled
Context: Rain is going home from his commute, walking to the train station. He is tired of the same routine yet is convinced he needs to bide his time to accomplish great things. During his walk, he notices a small faint dim light that looks like a human being. As he approaches, the ghost takes a step around the corner and disappears. Rain is curious and uses this opportunity as an excuse to do something different and explore the area a bit.
I walked along the route that was practically a straight line as far as my mind was concerned. The glass on the buildings to my right were simply what they are, clear glass showing the empty interiors of nameless buildings I gave a single care for. What seemed fancy to some was simply a filler background from my point of view.
While to the left was that of a smaller, but practically exact same sight. A block of shops aiming to serve as a balance to the so called “prestige” of the buildings across them. While I had spent several of my afternoons and evenings around here, the place seemed to feel less familiar of my presence.
A faint light appeared in the distance. I couldn’t make out what it was, but as I approached towards it a vaguely humanoid shape was all I could discern. It seemed to beckon to me. Not with any noticeable gestures, but through its glance from the turning of its head. Then it disappeared, after having taken what seemed to be a step towards the clean, but dark alley way.
I stood where the faint light was before. I felt myself already cutting down the idea of exploring this alley. Another work day is scheduled tomorrow. You gotta get some sleep. Perhaps we can do this some other time? Preferably during non dangerous hours?
I was getting tired of my own my nature. I told myself “fuck it” and proceeded to go down the unknown.
