Passive vs Active

Passive: raw, unfocused expression of the wound. Always present. Cannot be controlled. Perceived only by the user. A burden, a signal, a mirror.

Active: the wound channeled into deliberate form through an artifact. Shaped by intent. Has a physiological cost tied to the wound. Requires the artifact to function—without it, only the passive remains.
