Retreat, Numbness, and the Coward Reflex

condensed Jul 14, 2026

You're unusually honest about your default failure mode: when friction hits, you retreat into yourself, leave texts unanswered, and chase numbness through doomscrolling, Deadlock, and endless YouTube. You name it plainly — a coward reflex, a deferral of problems "to the point of ruin" — and note the cruel twist that you can summon courage for the big, dramatic acts but stall on the mundane ones. Your own antagonist grows from this soil: the untended problem that festers into a Dark Souls abomination, the numbness you keep trying to purify by facing things head-on the moment they arise.
